Helena : Hello my name is Helena !

Clara : Hi ! My name is Clara

Helena : So, I’m going to ask you some question.

Clara: Okay!

Helena: What do you want to do at the end of your master’s degree?

Clara: After my master’s degree I will want have a gap year to make my civic service in another country with sun like Costa Rica, you know! After that, I will make a criminology DU in the law’s university in Nantes because I not really, ready to work. [laughs].

Helena: How do you feel about knowing that it’s the end of your studies?

Clara: I’m shared, because in side I’m scary by the unknown and to don’t make what i want. But in the other side I’m happy because it’s good to finish studies. It’s time to be in the real life and to discover another part of my life. But It’s complicated for me to project in the future so I’m waiting and I will see. I think.

Helena: Where are going to do your internship? And where did you do the first one?

Clara: So now, I don’t have an internship, I don’t know where I’m going. But the last year I done my internship in an acting agency, in the field of recruitment. It was rewarding but now I know is not what I want because it’s boring, little boring…

Helena: If you can go back in time, would you have done some things differently?

Clara: I think that I would do an Erasmus year in my L2 to discover others cultures and to discover myself earlier. And, I will, […], I would do most volunteering in the Secours Populaire. But I think that my experiences make how I am, so I don’t change…, I don’t would, I wouldn’t change everything. I think!

Helena: If you had any advice to give to a new psychology student, what would it be?

Clara: First, I would say to be organized and motivated, especially in master’s degree. After, I would advise to take a break and time break and relax, because you have time. And i would to, […], advise to make what you want and what you like and choose your internship accordingly.

Helena : Okay!

Clara : Yes!

Helena: Okay, good!

Clara: So, it’s my turn! My first question is why did you chose psychology study? Is it your first choice?

Helena: No, it was not my first choice. At first I wanted to do medical study, but I soon realize that I wasn’t able to work enough to be in that field. So I change my mind and I started to do psychomotricity. But when I did an exchange in Canada I realize that it wasn’t a good thing, that I prefer psychology then psychomotricity so I decide to change. But no it wasn’t my first choice. And I choose that because I always wanted to do, to work in like medical or social field and the one thing that I love the most is to understand how human works, how society works. So, I choose psychology.

Clara: Okay and so, what were your motivations to select I/O psychology?

Helena: When I discover all the field that psychology offer, I have mixt feeling about what to choose like I love clinic but I’m like, I’m not really sure I’m going to be able to work all my life in that field, it’s really hard. And it’s long to have a good job things like that. And on the other side I really love social psychology so I decide to go for it and just choose my heart.

Clara: Okay!! And so, what is your background? Where do you come from?

Helena: So, I come from Paris originally. I live there for many years then I move to the west of Paris but also near Paris. First, I did psychomotricity in Paris, in a school in Paris. Them between my second and my third year I did an exchange student in Montreal. I was studying psychoeducation, but I can choose whatever class I wanted during the all three years so I choose a lot of class of psychology, that’s where I realized ok that’s what I want to do. Then I come back to France, I’m like ok I don’t want to continue study psychomotricity so I change I say ok I’m going to apply in Nantes, because I wanted to get out of Paris. So I was in, I was super happy.

Clara: Okay, and so, what is your experience in psychology or other kind like volunteering, I don’t know?

Helena: My first experience in psychology is form my mum because she is a psychologist but a clinic psychologist. So that was my first experience. That was good to have a mum who is a psychologist. I really talk a lot with her about the study, the field because I was interesting in it. So for my middle school internship with a psychologist in a Mission locale. I love it but I found it really hard but I love it. Then it was when I went to Canada. And that’s it for psychology. And I did a lot of humanitary works with a lot of different association mostly like with the Soupe Populaire or the Secour Populaire that kind of stuff. I also have been a member of the APNE last year. It was nice. And now I don’t really, I’m not really involved this year in any association because I don’t really have the time with all the thing to do.

Clara:Focus!

Helena: Yeah focus and when I can I will be involve again.

Clara: Okay! And how do see yourself in 10-20 years?

Helena: I see myself in a foreign country, I want to leave France mostly for the sun. More sun would be mice I think. So yes I see myself out of France. But I want to be a teacher, a researcher teacher I don’t know the word in English but in University. I would love to continue to teach and to research. So if I can if I arrive to do it because it’s not easy I would love to do that and yeah..!

Clara: Cool! Okay, And to finish, if I would be a wish maker (genie), what would be your first wish?

Helena: My first wish I guess would be to have enough money to be able to leave and to do like charity work, or travel or any thing I want except working.

Clara: Yeah, liberty!

Helena: Yes!

Clara: Okay, so , thanks for this!

Helena: Bye!

Clara: Bye!
