It talks about the story of Tony, a women who fall in love with Georgio, a narcissistic pervert. The story start by the skiing accident of Tony who have to go in medical center to cure her busted up knee. The psychologue she meet in the center make a parallel between her knee who represent stability and difficulty to accept a problem or a difficult situation to endure and the fact that she’s completly destroyed. As the movie proceed, we see how her relationship with Georgio began and fall progressivly in a real hell. This movie is a story of a women who fight against herself and her love for a man who destroyed herself. We can see as watcher the paradoxe between her dream of founding a family and her complete fascination of Georgio and the reality. Her relatives wants to make her open her eyes but the power he’s got on her is too strong, she don’t want to, and can’t see her real situation. « My king » is a dramatic story of love and fight against the power of her love with her narcisistic pervert men.
The movie is seperate in 4 chapters and make the parallel between her descent into hell because of her relationship with Georgio and her physical and psychological reconstruction in the wellness center
By the way, we can relate 4 states who creates dependance and fascination :
- Idealistic relationship : a lot of laught, feeling of connection between the two caracters, crazy situations, project to have a baby together, meeting relatives, he makes her self-esteem grow-up
- Georgio’s exgirlfriend : Tony meet Georgio’s exgirlfriend and we see that there is a problem in her behavior, then she try to suicid herself and Georgio start to move away from Tony instead of she’s pregnant
- Descent into hell : Georgio’s leave progressivly Tony alone with her baby, he’s spending more times with his exgirlfriend and said that she needs him . He start to go to parties with his friends, consumme drogs and alcool. He accuse her to consume medecine, being naughty and depressive and decide to live in an other flat next to her. She is alone and her family advise her to cut down this relation but she can’t.
- Relationship in sawthooth : everytime she decide to leave him, the situation get better between them and more it’s horrible, more it’s good after. It’s like the first consommation of drugs with puissant effects and a little descent moreover, more we take drugs, more the descent is terrible ; this kind of relationship can be compared to an addiction because there is the same mecanisms as dependence, withdrawal and abstinence.
This movie show us that violence against a person is not necessarly engendred by a physical violence, psyhological power is a real plague for self-esteam and health. The anology of the victim and the punisher is a must in humans relationships and psychology can be a good gateway to understand mecanisms who create this kind of relationship.
