Clémence : Hello,Young Padawan… You can call me Clemence. I guess you want to discover all the secrets of studying IO psychology,
Antoine : Why did you choose to study IO psychology ? and how have been living these years ?
Clémence : Well, I chose IO psychology because I was interested in social psychology especially on discrimination’s issues in the workplace. In fact, we have studied a lot of different courses which are complementary and that’s great. It’s more interesting this year with professionals who come to teach us or to tell us about their background and their job’s mission. For me, it is a good point but I’m disappointed because there is no professionnals who work on my favorite topic, diversity and equality in the workplace. So, If I had to suggest new ideas for next years, I would ask to invite more professionals with atypic background since they have been graduated. It would be easier to identify and think about the future and also have advice
Quite well but it was difficult to well organize the first year because of the new program. And finally, it’s hard to admit that is already the end of student’s life. But i’m glad to start my internship because it will be more concrete..and i twill be the begining of a new life
Antoine : You had an internship last year for about month, where was it and how was it ? Did you have only to be a plant in corner watching silently or did you have some missions to do ?
Clémence : Well in fact I had two different internships. The first one was in an association which improves women’s rights and support women who live domestic violence or women who look for a new job, especially after their pregnancy. So it was only two weeks, quite short to have missions, so as you said, I was like a beautiful plant, not in the corner but always watching … I used to watch professional conduct their individual interviews.
The second intership was in the Nantes’s Academy with someone responsible of an academic mission for equality between boys and girls at school. In fact, I have visited professionnals who work for the academy and organize events in their department with collaboration of schools about the equality between girls and boys. These events deal with mixity in the career plans of pupil
If I had the choice, I would choose only one internship to do more missions and not be a simply green plant
Antoine : What about your future and your, i bet instresting, upcoming career ? After you second internship are you planning to look for a job, do you plan to keep stuying by making a thesis ?
Clémence : For now, it is quite a mystery … It is hard to know what you want to do after this final year… I have different ideas … First, I would say that it depends on my final internship. If this one happens well and there is an opportunity to stay, why not.. But I was aslo thinking to continue my studies by doing one more year at the university to learn about gender studies…
Antoine : Last, what would be your best Tip for me, in order to succeed in M1 ?
Clémence : I could say work hard, read a lot, but I think that has been already done.. So I would say one thing, be curious and go beyond the limits
What I mean it is that we learned a lot during the last five years and with this master’s degree, you can do a lot a things, you can work in places you didn’t even think. So don’t forget that you have now a lot of ressources to do what you want and create your own job

If someone asked you why did you choose IO psychology, what would you answer ?
Antoine : I chose IO psychology after 1 year of medecine in which i realized that it wasn’t for me, i had no real intrest in it so i wondered what could match the things I liked in medecine and the things i wasnted to get rid of and there i came in Psychology. After 3 years in licence I had quite some time to discover the different aspects of Psychology and i’ve been more and more intrested in group psychology, and then in organizations, more precisely work Org.
Clémence : If you had to teach students in L1 in IO psychology, what would you choose to present ? (favorite theories for example)
Antoine : The milgram’s experiment, because it shows how much we are linked and dependant to the environment and others.
Clémence : If you had to change something in this Master, what would you change and why ?
Antoine : I’d stop the videoconferences. That really ain’t a great way of communicating with the professor and in addition the lesson’s contents are similar to other ones we have, unless we’re working them more deeply… with Nantes’s profs.
Clémence : What is the internship of your dreams ?
Antoine : In a company that sells HR services and sends Psychologists as experts.
Clémence : Where do you see yourself in five years ?
Antoine : Alive I hope? More seriously, I don’t know, I may be either working, making a theses or hard working for an other master but in a foreign country.
Clemence : If you had to convince someone who hesitates for IO psychology, what would you tell to him/her ?
Antoine : That’s a good question. I’d tell this person to read some books about the I/O psychology and to chose a path in which he/she’s deeply intrested, because working is hard enough, if you can try to make your work close to your passion that makes things easier.
