Sarah Tessier (M1 PSTO)

Charlotte Porcheron (M2 PSTO)

Sarah : Yes i think but… Wait…what ? Charlotte but what are you doing here ? I didn’t know you were at the University of Nantes !

Charlotte : Hi sarah ! I did not know that you were there! do you study law as you wanted?

Sarah : No I do the Master of Social Psychology of Work and Organization and you ?

Charlotte : No that can’t be true ? me too ! and I am in second degree PSTO !

Sarah : AMAZING SO FUNNY ! what a coincidence !

So what did you think of your first year of master ?

Charlotte : This first year was incredible, I met a great class, in which there is a great atmosphere, as well studious as fun, I have learned a lot last year and especially concerning the interventions in companies or the psychosocial risks. But I was a little disappointed that recruitment only happens this year. in all cases this year has been successful, since I had very good grades !

Sarah : Oh cool you had a good year, so do you still so motivated to become a major of the M2 promotion ?

Charlotte : Ahah, fingers in the nose! but to speak more seriously, this year the level is high.

there is the rendering of the brief for which I was a little late. In any case, the exams are only in January, so I’ll tell you if I’m major or not !

Sarah : Do you still have the ambition to be HR Director at Tesla ?

Charlotte : Yes it was true that we spoke about this project to become HRD at tesla, I love cars, and i still ! … It’s always a project that I keep in mind. Recruitment and management of employees is something that particularly attracts me. I find that this human and commercial side is fascinating. With my status I want to make positive with positive people and I find that human resources are the best ground. What about you ? why did you choose social psychology and not law as planned ?

Sarah : Hum you know, psychology was not my first choice during my last year of high school, I wanted to study law to fight injustice, But I studied this subject in high school and I realized that what interested me was to understand the human behavior and especially the effects of group.

Regarding my master, I chose the Master of Social Psychology because it is the branch of psychology that has always interested me the most, because it touches our daily relationships to the other and our deep nature.  am I wrong ? Did the Master PSTO comfort you in your choice or you were rather disappointed ?

Charlotte : I think your point of view is quite right concerning the psychological. I had the same and I think it is still the case. I find that unlike the other masters, we psycho work, have a much broader view of the daily because few people have pathologies, on the other hand everyone works so we really have an impact on the entire population and I find this incredible. We can not help everyone but our natural analysis and acquired during the master allows us really to have a look and it helps to help those around us. and you ? What do you want from this master ? Will you finally be able to decide ?

Sarah : I don’t know yet hum…there are many things I like, I don’t know if I would like to enter the world of work directly … why not complete my studies with a university degree or training in clinical psychology or in criminology hmm yes why not ?

Moreover, I’m too stressed I still have no internship, I’m afraid it’s too late and I don’t really know in which area I would like to achieve it. But you, by the way, where are you doing your internship ?

Charlotte : DON’T WORRY,  last year I easily found an internship. even if it does not seem obvious do not hesitate to ask your network, like facebook or linkedin. It must also be original to stand out from others. Last year I found my internship as a recruiter by asking one of the referring psychologists if he would take me as a trainee. He gave me a psychometric test and at the sight of my results he did not hesitate a second ! If it taught me one thing is that you should not hesitate to sell yourself !

Sarah : I hope you will earn a lot of money in your internship because it’s my birthday soon and I want to go to ibiza !

Charlotte : Haha i hope too, and you ? What kind of well-remunerated work would you like to do after this master ?

Sarah : HR Director at Tesla. No seriously I don’t really know yet … I’m a bit lost, maybe an IO psychologist in jail or in hospital, why not ? I have a lot of interest in penitentiary and hospital environments.

Charlotte : Oh cool, and is your thesis related to this project ?

Sarah : Not really … I’m doing my thesis on the quality of life at work and the psychosocial risks of caregivers and nurses in health facilities such as hospitals, clinics and EHPAD. Not really related to the prison.

Charlotte : Your choice !

Sarah : But now I hope i will find an internship in a care environment so that I can mix the knowledge learned by the readings that I do for my thesis and those that I will learn during my internship.

Charlotte : Yes I see…

Sarah : And you this year,  do you do it in the same company as last year ??

Charlotte : No, this year I was co-opted for an internship in Paris thanks to one of my acquaintances. I am delighted because I will have a position as a recruitment officer in a company that matches freelancers and companies looking for them. I will also be in charge of the onboarding of the new colleagues but also of the partner relationship with schools. This will allow me to be in touch with different actors and I will have various missions. no way to get bored !!

Sarah : Oh cool ! You will enjoy Paris ! Especially the metro…

Charlotte : I would take Uber, for sure !

Sarah : And so, to talk about psycho, has your social representation of psychology changed since you are in master ?

Charlotte : It’s my break and if you make me work on notions of psychology it’s not funny, you know my thesis is about social representations,

… But, to be honest I always have a positive representation of psychology. This has not changed, although this representation may be even more positive today ! But I can add that I am more certain of our impact in the world thanks to this master.

Sarah : Yeah I know what you mean, I think the same. In the master we’re doing it’s cool because we’re talking about the environment and it’s important these days with global warming. As for the quality of life at work, I find it essential in businesses. Indeed, we have seen that well-being at work is essential for good performance. If you don’t want to work, who was your favorite teacher and your worst ?

Charlotte : You see, the worst teacher was… No, I can not tell you, this exchange will be posted on madoc and the teachers have enough a good level in English, we must admit, ahah

Sarah, I’m sorry I’ll have to leave you, my thesis is not going to be made alone … But I’d love to have a coffee with you soon.

Sarah : Yes, with pleasure, it was good to meet you,  bye bye !
