M : Hello Clémence
C : Hello
M : So, why did you choose the university of Nantes to do your master degree ?
I chose this university especially for courses in IO psychology such as psychosocial risks or quality of life at work. But also because I wanted to discover a new area in France because I come frome the south.
M : Oh ok great, how did your internships go ?
I have done several internships in different structures since my first year. They were all very enriching experiences. I did one with a neuropsychologist, another with a clinical psychologist who worked in palliative care, another in a human resources department and last year in a professional risk prevention department.
M : And what did your studies teach you about yourself ?
I have learned a lot about myself since I started my studies especially about my ability to manage stress and organize my work. They have changed my vision of the professional world and it made me more mature about how I considerate work and especially the job of IO psychologist.
M : OK and would you like to study psychology in another country ? If it’s yes, why ? And which one ?
For the moment I plan to continue my training in France and I would like to pursue a university degree in psychopathology. I am not against the idea of working in a foreign country in the future, but I don’t yet know which one.
M : Ok, What is the reaction of your friends when you told them you were doing psychology?
I’m lucky to have friends who support me in what I do and they have always encouraged me in my studies. I think they understand the usefulness of the psychologist and that’s why they had a good reaction.
M : And the last question is what’s the perfect job for you and why ?
I don’t know what the perfect job is but I’d like to have my own practice later and receive in consultation people who are experiencing problems of suffering at work.
C : Ok thank you. And now Marie, why did you choose this field of psychology rather than clinical or development ?
I chose a master of social psychology because I did some sociology during my college and I really enjoyed it and during my licence I took all the options related to social psychology. I also did three internships in clinical psychology and I don’t want to do this because for me it’s to scientific and based on old theories. So that wy I choose this field of psychology.
C : What are your expectations and apprehensions for this year ?
I come back frome one year of road trip, so I was nervous about going back to university. Sitting all day can be boring when you’ve gotten used to doing a lot of things on the trip. But on the other hand, I’m very happy to relearn things and have more knowledge and be with my friends.
C : In which workplace would you like to do your internship ?
I would like to do my internship in a consulting firm and have a maximum of diversity in situations.
C : And when you were a child, did you ever imagine becoming a psychologist ?
Not really, but I wanted to be in the health field.
C : Ok, what do you think will be your professional life in 10 years ?
I don’t know, but I would like to work in a good firm, with great people and a good atmosphere, as well as possibilities to grow in the field.
C : And to finish, what other job would you have liked to do ?
Maybe in publicity or something like that.
