1. Why did you choose Industrial-organizational psychology ?

I graduated a professional license in Human Resources Management two years ago. I studied theories at school two days a week, and worked as a human resources assistant for the remaining three days in a firm at Saint-Nazaire.

This year was interesting but mainly orientate in management. I spent a lot of time on a computer manipulating numbers. So I decided to study psychology to orientate my future job on humans and not on numbers.

I really did appreciate what I learned during my license of psychology but regarded my academic background, it was making sense to choose Industrial Organizational psychology.

  1. What are your first feeling about industrial organizational master ? Are you sur of your choice ?

I found the first month of courses interested but I thought less study social psychology and more IO psychology. Maybe the second  semester is more based on IO psychology but it’s still interesting to understand why stereotypes continue to exist.

I’m sure of my choice to become psychologist. But I’m still wondering in which firm and which specialty choose.

  1. Had you professionals experiences as a IO psychologist ? Maybe an internship ?

I haven’t professionals experiences as a IO psychologist but I have already worked in a human resources department.

I did my psychology’s internship with clinical psychologist to understand and observe their role during interviews.

  1. What is your favorite experience in social psychology ?

My favorite experience in social psychology is the one of Clark and Clark in 1947 about white and black dolls. Black children have to choose the kindest and the prettiest doll between one white doll and one black doll. 15 children to 21 have chosen the white doll.

The experience really impacted me because I found incredible to internalize the wrong image of its group that early. Children will depreciate their group because of society’s stereotypes.

  1. If you could choose, where would you do your internship ?

I would like do my internship in LGP Conseil in Nantes. This office propose activities to help individuals to find their way by doing skills assessment of professional coaching. Indeed, they provide a good quality of life at work.

  1. Have you an idea for your Master thesis ?

Yes, I would work on the behavior of people in front of a tsunami.

The city of Nice ask a study about the potential reaction of the population in front of a tsunami. This city is near of two tectonics plates and they can move and cause a tsunami.

I think people will adopt an imitation behavior : if a group of people panic, a person will also panic but if a group of people react calmly a person will react calmly too.

I will use the virtual reality to observe and analyze behavior of a person.

  1. What have you plan for your career ?

I would like to help people to find their professional way. As the start I would like to work in a firm, because I think the teamwork is really important but in a farther future I would like to open my private practice.

  1. Did you like studying IO psychology ?

Yes I really liked study in IO psychology. I chose IO psychology because I like the enterprise world, especially the subjects of the burnout, the life quality at work and the recruitment. I had hesitated with clinical psychology but finally, the companies environment attracted me more. Indeed, for men it is very important to take into account the new diseases like burnout and act in the companies to help the workers by preventing and avoiding them.

  1. Had you enjoy your two years as student ?

Yes a lot ! During my license and master years, I learned a lot of general and specific subjects about psychology. Obviously, it was more specific during the master so more interesting for me. I really enjoyed the lessons and with my internships, I had a preview of the psychologist work and the challenges. I met some professors who helped me to clearly define my professional project so now I am prepared to work

  1. Where did you do your internship last year ? Did you like it ?

During my first year, I did my internship at the SDIS44 which gathers firefighters of the department of Loire A. I was the quality manager of work life forb1 month. I enjoyed discovering a public service, participating to the meetings and see how was the work in this kind of structure. Unfortunately, the manager’s missions were abstract for me. Indeed, promoting the employees life quality at work is difficult and take some time. In one month it is not possible to understand the work, see the problems and work on them. I just had time to see few problems and search some simple solution.

  1. What was your Master thesis subject ? Was it hard to work on ?

The thesis subject is “How can managerial practices influence well-being at work and burnout in a public service?”. It’s difficult because it takes a lot of time, you have to do a lot of research. But, as it is a subject that pleases us, it’s nice to work on it and satisfying to see the result of our study.

  1. Where would you like to do your internship this year ? And why ?

This year, I realize my internship in “Airbus” at Saint Nazaire, with a PhD on living conditions at work. It’s a great opportunity for me, because it’s the subject that interests me and, as I explained, this is the subject of my thesis. I hope to learn more about this area, to further develop my knowledge and skills, and to flourish.

  1. What is your dream job as psychologist?

This is a difficult question for me because during my studies I saw a lot of subjects and I still cannot make a choice. I would love working in a recruitment agency or as a manager. I also like the research so I do not exclude the idea of doing a doctorate. Finally, I really like the psychology world, more than just a part of it
